HAH!  HUMOR & HEALTH with Morgana Morgaine RN MA

At the August 12th gathering of the Asheville Communities Network, Morgana Morgaine presented an “experience” on the importance of Humor and Laughter to the “work” (and play) of building community.  With so much evidence now available affirming the health benefits of laughter, it is certainly a focus for all of us in the second half of life.  “Priming the humor pump” is easy and fun AND at the same time takes a commitment to the “practice of play”.

Morgana’s personal belief is that every community writing its mission and values has a responsibility to “name” laughter and play as a value and come up with ways in which it will be incorporated into the daily life of the group.

The “red nose of courage” is a primary tool that she offers to people as a way to deal with the fear and inhibition many of us feel about making “FOOLS” of ourselves.  Well, making FOOLS of ourselves is what HUMOR & HEALTH is all about!  And you know what?  You quickly give others “permission” to be less than perfect, to come on out and let go!

Bubble meditations in the wee hours of the morning with your “intentional neighborhood”, chicken dance hilarity, Humor Boards in the common house are just a few of the ways to take care of your literal and metaphoric heart.

Kabookee the Clown, Morgana’s “alter self”, passes out red noses with strict instructions on their use in “bored” meetings, traffic jams, and  yearly check-ups!

Morgana Morgaine is co-founder of The Beguine Project, establishing a women’s village in WNC.  She gives CLOWN CLASSES for those “serious about humor.”  New classes begin October 9 in Asheville, 6:30PM-9PM.  Call Morgana for details.  277-9504
